Shopping in Altinkum
There are many shops and stores in Altinkum, from small market stalls to large shopping malls. You can buy just about anything in and around Altinkum and for the rest you only have to travel a few miles out of town to find everything else you need.
Shopping Mall
The largest Mall in Altinkum in the Didyma Shopping Centre. Shops generally cater the tourists with; clothing, leather goods, photography, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, holiday gifts and DVDs.
Shops
Individual shops are setting up on the fringes of the town. You can find furniture, white goods, UK foods including bacon/sausage etc, specialist interior design and even a ound shop.
Market
The market is an excellent place to go on a Saturday and Wednesday. Don't be afraid to haggle and remember to use a few Turkish-words in your conversation then you won't be treat as a new tourist.
Supermarket
There are some excellent supermarkets now catering for both the UK and Turkish market. Carre Four (ex Gima) is the most popular and carries just about everything you will need for a couple of weeks in your apartment. There are also some new ones that are just as good on the same road and all are on the Dolmus routes.
Out of Town
Soke shopping centre is the nearest and is very easy to find. If you are feeling a bit more adventorous carry on into Soke itself and you will find a host of unique Turksih shops there that cost a lot less than Altinkum shops. For those of you who hire-a-car, take a trip to Izmir, it's only a couple of hours away and it so diverse that you can be in similar districts to London one minute and a small village the next.
